Unfortunately, our roleplaying mod like every other, is not without its flaws. To ensure a fun, enjoyable game for all of our visitors, we require all our guests and admins to follow the rules outlined below.
In the event of breaking our rules, we reserve the right to refuse you the ability to play on our server.

Please note the recent changes to the MOTD:

  1. No Prop killing, climbing, surfing, blocking, pushing, or spamming
    • No prop killing/pushing.
This means pushing or damaging other players with props.
    • No Prop climbing/surfing.
This means using a prop as a ramp to get into somebody's base or on top of a ledge. It is however accepted if built as a permanent staircase. This means it should both appear and act as a permanent staircase. Borderline cases are decided by the acting admins, at their own discretion.
    • No prop blocking.
It sucks, but people have to be able to break into your base/house.
Keypads/buttons must be immediately visible in the vicinity of the door. No hidden keypads/buttons. Blocking the spawn will result in a instant perma-ban.
Each keypad must lead directly to a non-fake door, which means no fake keypads, and no keypad chains (opening one keypad unlocks another).
But you are however allowed to block off all entrances but one. Don't make it unfair. Use good judgement.
Nocollided props are allowed as part of buildings, however, must never act as doors or windows. Using nocollided props as cover in firefights is not allowed.
If a single thief(gangster) is not able to break through your defenses, using the standard tools, then you are prop blocking.
If any fading door timer is set too low to give a raider a decent chance at getting in, you are propblocking. If you can shoot him, but he cannot shoot you(I.E. shooting his feet), it is also considered propblocking.
If any fading door timer is set too low to give a raider a decent chance at getting in, you are propblocking.
A thief must go through no more than 4 doors to get inside your base. It does not matter what type of door (dynamic, static, faded etc) 4 is the limit.
You may have multiple entrances to your base as long as the thief does not have to go through more than 4 doors. Small fading doors used to transfer money/items in the shop does not count towards the 4 limit,
but small fading doors used to store any item a thief will want to steal (guns, printers, drugs etc) does count towards the 4 limit.
Do not block off nor claim large parts or sections of the map. Doors that are marked unownable should remain accessable for everybody. Public areas should never be blocked off.
A slight exception exist for CP road blocks. See CP job rules for specifics.
Do not build inside other peoples base's. Never build inside PD unless part of CP, or mayor. If job is lost, all related props should be removed immediately. All of your props may be removed by admin, if you fail to adhere to this rule.
    • No prop spamming.
Spawning a lot of props everywhere that have no real purpose is spamming. Prop spamming is hazardous to the server's health, therefore we react harshly against it.
  2. No RDM
This is a roleplaying server, not a deathmatch server. As such, there are specific rules against killing other players. See job rules for specifics.
Gangsters robbing a house may kill people found inside. The people inside may defend themselves against robbers.
You may not create kill zones. Only rooms sectioned off with purchasable static doors count as legitimate property, in which you may defend yourself against intruders.
You are always allowed to defend yourself in the event of anyone attacking you.
Spawn camping is not tolerated, even if you have a legitimate roleplaying reason tied to your job to kill the person spawning (i.e red mob vs blue mob or vice versa).
Killing to collect a bounty is allowed, and encouraged. It is however against CP laws, and you may be arrested for it.
Vigilantes are not allowed. If you see someone perform a crime, or run from the CP, you are not allowed to interfere unless directly involved (victim, or affiliated with the criminal).
Do not shoot at CP's that you think witnessed a crime that you did, unless they are chasing you.
  3. No 'teamkilling'
While you are in some faction-based jobs, such as red or blue gangster, or CP, you are in direct alliance with the rest of your colleagues.
Killing a teammate should never occur. Change your job, or have the colleague you are arguing with change job instead.
CP's killing mayor should never occur. There are specific rules that apply to corrupt or rebel CP's. See CP job rules for specifics..
Gangsters raiding, robbing, mugging, kidnapping or otherwise inflicting other gangsters within same gang must not occur.
If you are unable to work together, stay away from each other.
  4. Follow NLR.
NLR stands for "New Life Rule". That means, if you do get killed, no matter what job you are (even CP), you forget what happened and move on.
No revenge killing/arresting. If you were RDM'd, tell an admin. Never attempt to enforce the rules yourself by killing or arresting rule breakers.
After you die, you are not allowed to return to the place of your death (or anywhere near it) for at least THREE minutes. This gives gangsters a chance to steal your stuff.
  5. Raiding/burglary rules:
Gangsters may break into an apartment, base, or structure owned by another player to steal anything found inside.
While doing so, the gangster may protect himself by killing the people inside, or defending himself against interfering CP's.
People inside may equally defend themselves from the intruder.
Gangsters may team up with other gangsters while breaking an entrance, however, people of other jobs (including bounty hunters) may not participate.
This means that bodyguards, gun dealers, CP's, medics, bounty hunters, or any other job not gangster, is forbidden from participating in a raid.
Bounty hunters are allowed to buy a lockpick or keypad cracker, and break into a base to get to a target. After performing the hit, the bounty hunter is allowed to help himself to valuables found inside.
Apply some common sense though: bounty hunter is not a thief.
  6. Do your job.
If you know that you are going afk for some time, leave the job or server so others may have it.
Do not change the faction, group, or specifics of your job. You are allowed to be creative in terms of roleplaying, however, do not take on the roles of another job or faction than your own.
You may however join fictional groups or factions, as long as they do not violate the specifics of your job. Even if you change your job title, you are still bound by every rule your base-job is.
In plain english, this means that examples such as "red gang gundealer", "blue gang mayor", "CP scout bird", "red gang bodyguard" and similar examples is not allowed.
  7. Respect the players.
Respect: Always treat other members with respect, even if you disagree with them.
Debates are fine, but ad hominem attacks (personal attacks) are not. This includes racism, sexism, or any other kind of insults. Avoid making derogatory comments and flaming. This however admins, does not give you the right to kick someone for simply insulting you via a RP reason or because they are returning an insult after you have insulted them. Use common sense, if they say "Fuck you" after you are have teleported them to speak with them, warn them, if they continue to insult you and do not listen to you, you then have the right to take action. Remember the order: warn x2, kick, report the person via the ban sections of the forums if they continue.
Also respect the privacy of others, and don't share their personal information without permission.
  8. Respect the admins.
Admins busy on-duty should not be disturbed under any circumstance.
Ignoring an admin will lead to your own doom until attention is received.
If you disagree with an admin, pm your questions or comments to him or her in a polite manner.
Swearing at admins, or otherwise hostile behaviour is an offense in itself, and will be dealt with harshly, even if you are correct in the case you are whining about.
Any threats whatsoever towards admins will authorize those admins to abuse and dominate you to the fullest extent of their powers.
Impersonating an admin is grounds for permanent ban.
  9. No whining.
Nobody likes a whiner, and that includes us. Whatever cause or issue you may have with something or someone, take it to pm's, or the forum.
If you are frustrated to the point of boring the people on the server with your raged banter, disconnect instead. If you are unable to stop whining, expect us to shut you up. Permanently.
  10. Events
Level 4 admins are allowed to create events that may not disrupt regular roleplaying activities. They have to be localised and clearly announced.
The admin creating such an event must clarify his/her identity and may not be undercover.
  11. Default laws
All drugs are illegal by default. Cigarettes, beer, and water is legal (obviously) Default laws for guns are: pistols and knives are legal, everything else is illegal. The mayor can change this law, it will however go back to default when the mayor changes jobs or disconnect.
Any and every weapon (including legal ones) held out in public is considered a criminal offense, and you may be arrested for it. If the CP feels threatened by the weapon, or fear for his own or other citizens life, he may shoot and kill the suspect.
  12. No metagaming.
Metagame is when you gain & use information not directly available to your roleplaying character. Using information from /ooc is such an example, taking actions towards players based on their model/skin is another.
The exception is gangsters - If you are a gangster, and look upon a gangster of opposite faction, he may be shot on sight.
  13. Glitch abusing.
Unfortunately, our server and gamemode code are not perfect. If you find a glitch in any form, inform the nearest admin about it immediately. Silently abusing the glitch is grounds for permanent ban.
If you are in doubt if what you are doing is a glitch or not, ask before proceeding.
No explosives in any form or shape are allowed on the server, and we've taken steps to prevent spawning them. Finding a glitch that circumvents this protection means you are breaking this rule.
Please note that gangsters can, and are allowed to buy and sell lockpick and keypad crackers, even to players of other jobs (only CP, gangster, bounty hunters are able to pick them up).
  14. Building locations.
You can build outside, or in any building YOU own, however, this build may not prop block any part of the map (save CP checkpoints/roadblocks; see CP job rule sets) or the entrance to someone else's building.

    Some ground rules:
    • Do not make a huge building with the laggiest material you can find.
    • Please refrain from building in front of spawn, as this may gave error messages to connecting players.
    • All rules that apply to map made buildings, still apply to player made buildings.
    • Hobos should only use a maximum of 8 props.
    • Do not make sky bases as they look unrealistic, silly, and usually tend to affect the players on the server in a negative way.
    • All player constructs must have a RP purpose. Should you be unable to provide one when questioned, admins have the right to remove said construct.
    • Any building must still only have 4 doors maximum (see prop-blocking rule).
    • CP must be able to only use their battering ram on the door, not the sides nor the back of the base.
All constructs should be of reasonable size, follow all other related rules, have RP purposes, and are under the discretion of the online admins.
This page contains exceptions to the rules and general rules, based on class.
  1. Civil Protection.
    • Can arrest people on sight for having any weapon out.
    • Arrest must always be preferred over killing. Only shoot at suspects to return fire, or if they are getting away.
May shoot to kill the suspect if suspect is of immediate threat to the officer or civilians.
    • CP Chief acts as the Mayor, until someone is elected as a Mayor.
    • May randomly search people for weapons, only confiscate if weapons is illegal though.
    • May request search warrants and raid residencies/bases under the suspicion of illegal weapons and/or money printers.
    • May confiscate or destroy illegal items such as money printers, weapons, drugs.
    • May create roadblocks.
      • Must always have a guard stationed at the roadblock, to allow people to pass through it.
      • Must allow access through to everybody.
    • A CP may become corrupted, or rebel.
      • The corrupted CP may sabotage the police force, by letting known criminals go, or let armed criminals in.
      • Mayor must be given time to establish his laws and base before rebelling takes place. >5 minutes at least (5 minutes after becoming mayor).
      • A corrupted or rebel CP may not attack his teammates. If armed rebellion is intended, the corrupt or rebel CP must change his job to gangster of either gang.
      • Can be arrested by fellow CP's who learn of the corruption (though, some form of proof or suspicion should be collected first).
  2. Gangs
    • Gang leaders can not order their gangsters to break the rules.
    • Gang leaders can order gangsters to take on the role of the thief & any rules associated.
    • You are allowed to kill the person you're trying to rob from.
They are not allowed to come back within 3 minutes of their death.
    • You are not allowed to keep attacking the same person over and over.
    • You can kidnap people for ransom.
    • Gangs can kill their rival gang members on sight, however, gangs may not spawn-camp.
    • Gangs may rebel against CP force and mayor
      • May only attack CP and/or mayor, in direct attacks/raids on either PD or mayor. No declaring open war.
      • Mayor must be given time to establish his laws and base before rebelling takes place. >5 minutes at least (5 minutes after becoming mayor).
      • Is still vulnerable to gang war, and every other rule associated with gangsters.
  3. Gun Dealer.
    • You may not use weapons purchased as a gun dealer in another job. Switching job from gundealer means you leave the guns behind.
    • You may not side with any faction, denying service to another, including "red/blue/cp gundealer".
    • You may only use weapons to protect yourself or your property.
  4. Mayor
    • You may not ask or order any CP to break server rules, nor do anything outside the specification of their job.
    • The mayor's rule is for everybody, a group or person can not be immune to the rules the mayor makes.
    • The mayor can be corrupt just like CP and can take bribes to make or lift rules benefiting the paying party but can not make the paying party immune to his laws.
    • CP's are allowed to have gun's that would break the mayor's gun law because it is used for the mayors and cities protection. The mayor is never immune to his own laws.
  5. Hobo/Pet
    • Throwing bug bait at others or on their property is considered an arrestable offense. hobo's may do what they wish to their own props though.
    • Pooping on people as a pet is considered an "attack" which people may "defend" themselves against. In simple words - poop on people, and they might kill you.
    • Spamming hobo or pet sound is considered mic spamming, and will be dealt with accordingly. Continuous non-stop use of bug bait is considered spamming.
  1. Disclaimer
Just because you paid for admin doesn't mean that you're exempt from losing it. If you're an idiot and don't follow these rules, you can lose your admin privileges.
Be smart, do your communication through written chat. What you type can be pointed to in logs later on. Being clear on what you are, or were doing will greatly help your cause in the event of an abuse report.
  2. Useful Admin Console Commands
    • bind <"key"> <"command"> example1: bind F6 "+ASS_menu", example2: bind mouse5 "+spectatemenu"
    • "+ASS_menu" will bring up the main admin menu.
    • "+spectatemenu" will bring up a menu that allows you to watch people without their knowledge.
    • "playerid" will tell you everyone's RP names and Steam ID's.
    • "status" will tell you everyone's Steam names and Steam ID's.
    • "ass_who" will tell you everyone's RP names, steam ID's, and true rank
    • "rp_lookup [rpname]" will tell you that person's Steam name and Steam ID.
    • For a complete list, see Commands cheat sheet
  3. Kicking
    • Use Kicks as a warning, except in extreme cases.
    • If you think somebody should be banned, then notify a Level 4 admin, or post in the Bans forum.
    • If kick does not help, try other methods, such as silencing the player (which, in turn, disables the player from changing job, buying any equipment, etc), or jailing the player.
    • Use intelligent judgement. Be sure to investigate a situation before kicking.
  4. Self-control
Its important to let the punishment fit the crime. Remember that everything you do is recorded to logs, and can be brought up at a later point.
Learning the commands you have available is an important step in avoding the troublemakers from getting on your nerves.
Disable a player from talking instead of creating a raged conversation. Disable a player from playing instead of creating a RDM-fest.
If problems pile up, don't be afraid to seek help from other admins. Avoid losing self-control. Raging out as admin is not healthy for you or the server.
Everybody has bad days. In the event of having one, take a breather, disconnect, relax until self-control is restored, instead of disrupting and ruining the fun for innocent players.
  5. Don't disrupt players roleplaying
The goal is to keep the gameplay going without disruptions. Don't publically display ragdolled or jailed rule-breakers. Even if they are idiots.
Use the admin rooms to discuss cases.
Keep the public channels clear and free of raged flame wars.
Do your best to avoid noclipping in or through public spaces. Even if you have a justified reason to noclip.
  6. Spawning
Don't spawn anything that you normally wouldn't be able to do as a normal player, unless you have really good reason to.
Please bear in mind that this is a roleplaying server, not a building server. Lagging the server should be avoided at all cost. Avoid spawning lamps, lights, ragdolls, vehicles (custom-made, or standard ones),
or using physics-intensive creations if you can, and definitely if the server starts lagging.

Weapon spawning is by default blocked for everybody.
However, level 4's are given means to spawn some weapons during controlled events (and only for the duration of such events).
Any other form of weapon spawning will be considered glitch abusing, with everything that entails.
  7. God mode
Don't use god mode unless you have a legitimate reason. You should only be using this while in the Admin job.
Don't ever use god mode while roleplaying.
  8. Physics/tool Gun
When you get admin, your physics gun will now move other people's props, as well as the players themselves. Your toolgun will work on all props.
Never ever pick up or move another player without a legitimate admin reason.
Never ever pick up, move, nor edit another player's props without a legitimate admin reasons.
  9. No-voting, job-forcing All jobs that have a single slot (mayor, gang boss, cp chief, and any future one-slot job) should never be no-voted into.
Job-forcing (rp_[job]) should never be used to give yourself a job past job limit, or to give yourself a one-slot job like described above.
Job forcing command (rp_[job]) should only be used in admin-related actions, such as rectifying random demotes.
  10. Use of admin class
All admins may use admin class to deal with ongoing issues, with no imposed restriction on limit.
Furthermore, admins may select one admin to be "on-duty" if necessary.
Only one admin among the ranks of "admin", and "superadmin" may be "on-duty" at any given time.
However, as level 4's often deal with tasks beyond those of regular admins and superadmins, level 4's do not have a restriction on amount of "on-duty".
Regardless of rank, admin class should never be used in roleplaying circumstances, to build, or break any other associated rule (such as no-clipping across the map without purpose).
In short, admin class is to be used for business only.
  11. Remember that this is a roleplaying server
Unless dealing with a specific case, you should be roleplaying like everybody else.
When you do roleplay, roleplay by the book. As admin, you are still restricted by the same rules guests are. Become an example to follow, not an example to avoid.
Try your best to keep the game fun, fair, and balanced for everybody.
  12. No-Clip
    When to use no-clip
    • Investigating a quick complaint (don't have to be in admin job)
    • Investigating anything while in admin job (such as investigating prop blocks)
    • Building (one of the perks for being admin)
    When not to use no-clip
    • Recreational travels around the map
    • Roleplaying reasons
    • Getting in or out your house
    • Spying on opponents
    • Checking out a base defenses, or valuables, including looking for weapons or money printers
    • Escaping from pursuers
Using noclip in any roleplaying circumstance except building is restricted.
Basically, just use good judgement. We don't want to see people just flying around for no reason.
Like mentioned here, noclipping should be avoided in public spaces.
  13. Events
Only level 4 or above may create events.
These events may not disrupt players who wish to continue to roleplay, and as such, must occur only within controlled, blocked off sections or quarters of the map.
While hosting an event, the host may spawn various types of weapons for use in the event only, and any such weapons must be removed from all participants before the event is concluded.
  14. Obey your superiors & respect each other
Treat someone the same way you want to be treated, with respect.
If someone of higher authority tells you to do something, do it. That of course includes orders to stop what you are doing.
Even though admins that have the same rank as you technically don't have any influence over you, it's best to listen to what seasoned admins have to say, as they have far more experience than you.
Don't argue with each other. We're all on the same team! If you must question another admin's actions, do so through pm's. Don't create a bad public image by calling the admin out publicly.
Never, ever override another admin without talking to that admin first and getting that admin's approval.
If in conflict, ask the other admin for a private conversation, to clear up the conflict through a civilized, calm conversation. Admin rooms serve well for this purpose.
  15. Server settings
Do not touch any of the cvars, variables in the RP admin menu, ASSMod settings, FPP Settings, or any other settings. Ever.
Attempts at doing so is logged. If you disagree with our settings, the forum is the place to discuss them.
  16. Immunity
Except for owners, nobody is immune. Absolutely every single one of us, admin or guest, is tied to the rules listed.
It really does not matter if you are level 4 or regular admin, if you've been with us for years or just joined.
Nobody is exempt from the rules. Do not make the mistake of thinking you are too cool or important to be bound by the rules we have.
